Have you ever tried to make an omelet in the oven? If not, this is a great time to try it.
You will be surprised how easy, fast and most of all delicious this recipe is.
When you prepare an omelet in the oven you get a perfectly cooked fluffy omelet in the oven and you do not even need to season it.
It is the ultimate set-and-forget recipe. You put it in the oven you let it back and when the time is up you have a perfect omelet.
I do recommend you use an oven thermometer because the majority of ovens are not calibrated properly.
They either show a temperature that is higher than the actual temperature or the temperature is too low.
An oven thermometer is very cheap and only costs a couple of dollars. They show the real temperature and you will be surprised how off your oven temperature is.
Why Make An Oven Bake Omelette?
Making an easy omelet in the oven has so many advantages compared to a stovetop omelet:
- Set and forget – my favorite reason is that just like a lot of Instant Pot recipes this omelet is a set-and-forget recipe. While whisking the eggs, and dicing the addons you preheat the oven with the oven dish. Then put the omelet in, set the timer, and walk away. When you return your omelet is done. No babysitting and no flipping off the egg is needed
- Fast recipe – an oven omelet is a fast recipe to make. Especially if you want to make an omelet that serves multiple eaters
- Limited dishes – because you use an oven dish and a bowl to whisk the egg you only need a limited number of dishes to make this recipe

Can You Freeze An Omelet?
Yes, you can store and freeze and omelet but you have to be aware that the texture changes after freezing.
So, if you do not mind the change in texture, you can freeze the leftover omelet.
How To Freeze Omelets?
To freeze an omelet, you have to let it cool completely first after you cooked your omelets.
Before freezing you need to wrap your omelets.
Start with at least three layers of plastic wrap to prevent frost damage to your omelets.
Put the plastic-wrapped omelets in an airtight food container or a resealable bag.
Label and store in the freezer for up to three months.
When you thaw and reheat a frozen omelet the texture will change due to the liquid in the omelet. So be prepared it will not be as fluffy as a freshly made one.
How To Reheat Your Omelet
It is easy to reheat an omelet and you have various ways to reheat it:
- Oven – preheat your oven to 350℉/175℃. Put your omelet on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Heat for 5-7 minutes or until warmth through
