Travis Kelce attended Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. In football, Kelce was a quarterback, and ran for 1,016 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns, while throwing for 1,523 passing yards, 21 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in his senior 2007 season.

After high school, Kelce committed to play college football at the University of Cincinnati, where his brother Jason was then currently playing. After redshirtingin 2008, Kelce appeared in 11 games, as both tight end and quarterback in 2009, and tallied 8 rushes for 47 yards and 2 touchdowns along with 1 reception for 3 yards that season.

Kelce didn’t play in the 2010 season; allegedly because he was suspended by the team after testing positive for marijuana. Yet, Kelce returned in 2011 as a tight end, and recorded 13 catches totaling 150 yards and 2 touchdowns.
